What a fantastic place to stay, had the grounds to ourselves so lots of snow fun was had by all, including the dogs. Nothing in very easy reach during the winter months and the roads around the estate are near impossible unless you drive a 4 x 4. Mrs J, Darlington, County Durham 30 December 2010
This cottage is excellent value for money in the stunning and peaceful location of the grounds of the Mellerstain estate. A lovely cottage with a modern interior that was perfect for our family holiday. A great base for exploring the Scottish Borders and nearby coast. Mr R, Doncaster, S Yorks 15 April 2010
This cottage is in the quiet courtyard of a beautiful manor house and offers stunning walks through the grounds. The lovely market town of Kelso is a short drive away offering great shopping and dining, whilst Edinburgh is only 45 mins away. Anyone seeking peace, quiet, and a chance to 'recharge the batteries' in a stunning country setting should seriously consider staying here. Mr B, BANBURY, Oxfordshire 01 December 2009
Location was wonderful, to have the grounds of the lovely Mellerstain Estate as our own 'garden' during our stay made us feel very privileged. We were too noisy to see the red squirrels and deer, but saw the highland cattle and heard the hoots of the owls at night. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable and all 6 humans plus Alfie the border terrier had a great time. Loads to do and see within a short drive. Edinburgh is only around 40 miles away, and the lovely coast of both Scotland and Northumberland in easy reach. The tour of the big house was also well worth doing and Angus and all the guides were most informative. We sampled lots of local produce from the butchers and bakers in surrounding villages and farmers market in Kelso and of course fish and chips in Eyemouth! Highly recommended!! Mrs W, RUGBY, Warwickshire 10 October 2009
Beautiful setting, ideal for people with a dog, very friendly ground staff and admin staff within Mellerstain house, would heartily recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing break. Many places of interest in the area.
Excellent comfortable beds. Mrs I, Northampton 05 September 2009
Very comfortable and spacious accommodation furnished to a very high standard. Offered all the comforts of home and much more. Mr H, RAYLEIGH, Essex 24 August 2009
Great walks in grounds for dogs. Mrs M, GLASGOW 08 August 2009
Beautiful grounds, with delightful walks, excellent for children if supervised. Plenty to occupy guests locally, but also convenient (about 40 mins) for Edinburgh, Alnwick, Holy Island etc. The cottage is very good, en suite bathroom to each bedroom and a four poster bed in the master bedroom. Mrs T, NORWICH, NORFOLK 14 June 2009
